Meet Dr. Emily Knox, professor in the School of Information Sciences, whose work centers on intellectual freedom and the right to read. Throughout her career, Dr. Knox has been a leading voice against censorship and a strong advocate for access to information. Her work includes: Delivering more than 30 talks and workshops since 2020 to professional and public audiences across the U.S. Serving as board chair of the National Coalition Against Censorship, where she helps lead national advocacy efforts. Testifying before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in 2023 to speak out for freedom of expression and address the rise in book bans. Dr. Knox’s commitment to education, research, and public engagement continues to drive meaningful change at every level.
